AGO Free Wednesday Nights - Grow Some Culture
It's Wednesday. And that means the AGO is free tonight. Every Wednesday night the AGO opens its doors to you for free between the hours of 6 and 9. Of course, this doesn't include special exhibitions, but the permanent collection is always fun. Besides, walking around an Art Gallery for a night just makes you feel smart. You can stand back and stare at a painting while thoughtfully rubbing your chin along with the best of them. And surprisingly the gallery is large enough that it doesn't feel too crowded even on free Wednesdays.
If you want to support the gallery, general admission is only $8 the rest of the time. So it's still reasonably priced if you want to throw caution to the wind and visit on, say, a Thursday night.
For those of you with a bit of money to spend, the current exhibit is Andy Warhol / Supernova, running through to October 22. This exhibit is guest-curated by David Cronenberg so you will definitely get your money's worth. Admission is $18 for us plain old adults, but if you're a student you can get in for $15. The entire family can go for $40 but this exhibit carries a disclaimer for graphic depictions of violence and sexuality, so maybe not the best place for the kiddies.
The gallery is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. So... um, don't go on those days. Yeah.
For more details visit AGO's web site.
